Community Partnerships

Bridge to Success: Building a bridge from preschool to a postsecondary degree for all San Francisco youth.

One of the goals of the Bridge to Success effort is to strengthen the partnerships between SFUSD, City College, the City & County of San Francisco and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) that support students’ post-secondary success. In order to accomplish that goal, the initiative formed the CBO Partnership which comes together with the objective to:

  • Share existing best practices in CBO-school partnerships that support post-secondary success to help identify ways to a) enhance partnerships and b) expand the number of students impacted by partnerships;
  • Identify information that SFUSD, City College, and CBOs could share to enhance partnerships and the most effective ways to share that information; and
  • Identify changes to foster better partnerships between CBOs, SFUSD and City College working toward enhancing students’ post-secondary success.

TIMELINE OF A STUDENT “ON TRACK” TO POST-SECONDARY SUCCESS

Participants at the January 2012 partnership meeting developed a timeline of an “on track” SFUSD student at every grade level by outlining the characteristics of and milestones for a successful high school graduate. Each participant then also noted which of these milestones they worked towards with their students. We hope this will be a living document and invite you to submit any requested changes or additions to Bryant Tan at .

PLAN AHEAD SCOPE & SEQUENCE

The Plan Ahead course prepares SFUSD ninth graders to succeed in high school and to set goals for post-secondary education and careers. It exposes them to a range of potential careers and helps them develop the skills, the attitudes, and the behaviors they will need as they embark upon their lives as young adults. This Scope & Sequence is shared to provide CBOs to better align and complement their programming with the main post-secondary topics and learning objectives covered in the school day.
