Pass your 4th grade CST tests
What is it?
CSTs are the California Standards Tests. These tests are taken by every student in the state of California to see whether they have the skills and knowledge expected for their grade level. They are reported on through STAR – Standardized Testing And Reporting – for the state of California.

Pass your CAHSEE
What is it?
The CAHSEE is the California High School Exit Examination, which students in California public schools are required to pass to earn a high school diploma. The CAHSEE covers English and math and is first given in the 10th grade and can be retaken until graduation.
Why is it important?
No matter how well you do in your classes you cannot graduate without passing the CAHSEE!

Pass your EAPs
What is it?
The EAP is the Early Assessment Program, a test administered in 11th grade to determine if you are ready for college level English and math
Why is it important?
If you do not place in college level courses you will have to take remedial courses in college before you can start accumulating college credit, and the more classes you have to take before getting credit the less likely you are to finish!

Graduate with A-G
What is it?
A-G courses are classes that you must take in high school in order to enroll in a California public university (CSU or UC). They are now required to graduate from SFUSD too.
Why is it important?
By finishing high school with you’re a-G requirements met the door is open for you to attend any college that matches your skills and interests. BUT you must get a C or better for a class to count towards A-G!

Register for 12 units or more
What is it?
12 units (often 4 classes of 3 units each) is the number of units associated with going full time to college. You need at least 60 units to get an associates degree (5 semesters of 12 units) and 120 units to get a bachelor’s degree.
Why is it important?
Going full time is the NUMBER ONE predictor of finishing a degree. Taking one extra class a semester for your first 2 years lets you finish one entire semester sooner!
